NASCAR Bans The Display Of The Confederate Flag
Just days after NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace called for the organization to ban the display of the Confederate flag at events, races, etc., they’ve listened and taken action.
Wallace, who is the only full-time black driver, sparked the change after he wore a shirt that read “I Can’t Breathe/Black Lives Matter” before Sunday’s race in Atlanta, He then followed his peaceful protest with a call to action in an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon. Wallace said, “Get rid of all Confederate flags. No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race. It starts with Confederate flags. Get them out of here.”

On Wednesday (June 10), NASCAR released an official statement, affirming, “The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”
