Naomi Osaka Becomes The Most Highest Paid Female Athlete In The World

Tennis player Naomi Osaka is now the highest-paid female athlete in the world after setting an all-time earnings record in 2019.

In a report by Forbes, Naomi Osaka has become the highest-paid athlete after earning $37.4 million from prize money and endorsement deals within the past year. Previously, Serena Williams held the record but Osaka earned more by $1.4 million. Maria Sharapova held the record in 2015 when she earned $29.7 million.

Currently, Osaka is ranked No.29 on the 100 highest-paid athletes in the world and it is the first time that two women have made the list.

Since her winnings at the 2018 U.S. Open and the 2019 Australian Open, Osaka has earned $300 million in endorsements along with representing a new generation due to her heritage and “cool” personality. She has endorsement deals with companies such as All Nippon Airways, Procter & Gramble, Nissin, and Nike.

Osaka was expected to represent Japan at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the major event was postponed to 2021.
