Music Producer Phil Spector Passes Away At 81

Phil Spector, the music producer who is responsible for the biggest hits in music, has died at 81 after battling COVID-19 complications in prison.

As reported by TMZ, the music producer was diagnosed with COVID-19 several weeks ago and went to the hospital for treatment. After Spector’s release and return to prison, he reportedly felt better but his symptoms worsened before his death and he was rushed to the hospital for the second time.

He was serving a 19-to-life sentence for the murder of Lana Clarkson. Clarkson was found dead in Spector’s mansion after the pair at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on February 3, 2003, and Spector was convicted of murder in 2009.

Spector has produced hits for the Beatles, John Lennon, Ike & Tina Turner, The Ronettes and is credited for making the “Wall of Sound” technique in rock music. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
