#Socialites, get a load of this! Music and film billionaire David Geffen, 82, has filed for divorce from his 32-year-old former go-go dancer husband without a prenup to protect his estimated $8.7 billion fortune.
According to TMZ, David Geffen married his estranged husband, David Armstrong, in 2023 in a private ceremony in Beverly Hills, California. Reportedly, Armstrong met the mogul while serving as his personal trainer in 2020. However, when they tied the knot, it was without signing a prenuptial agreement to protect Geffen’s billions of dollars. Per TMZ, Armstrong performed as a go-go dancer about 1 year and 11 months ago, using the stage name Donovan Michaels.
After less than 2 years of marriage, Geffen — who is the co-founder of DreamWorks and a record executive — has cited the usual celebrity go-to of “irreconcilable differences” in his divorce paperwork, filed by celebrity/divorce attorney Laura Wasser.

Forbes Lists David Geffen’s Net Worth At A Whopping $8.7 Billion
According to Forbes, David Geffen is worth a whopping $8.7 billion after amassing a fortune over the years in the film and music industries. Geffen retired 15 years ago and has no income other than stocks and other equities. TMZ reports that Geffen separately owns those assets.
Now, under California law, dividends from separately-owned stocks are considered separate property. Thus, it appears Armstrong will not be entitled to a lot of money, at least in terms of cash. TMZ also notes that Geffen has been very philanthropic over the years, donating tons of money.
Furthermore, under California law, Armstrong will receive spousal support, but only for one year. The law permits the receiving partner spousal support for half the length of the marriage. Per TMZ, Geffen did not detail the exact amount of spousal support in his divorce paperwork. However, Geffen did promise to pay spousal support and attorney’s fees for his estranged husband.
David Geffen’s Estranged Husband’s Ex Once Claimed She Only Knew Him To Date Women
In April 2023, we previously reported that an ex-girlfriend of David Armstrong, aka Donovan Michaels, claimed she only knew him to date women, not men. The New York Post reported that the woman, who chose to remain anonymous, said he’s been someone to jump “head-first” into experiences.
She added, “He would tell me people just assumed that he was into guys from what he posts on Instagram. I know that he was getting comments like that from gay men, that he was really attractive and in really good shape.”
