Multiple 911 Calls Made To Foster Home Of Ma’khia Bryant, Sister Sought Help

Records show that multiple 911 calls had been made to the foster home of Ma’khia Bryant in the past six months.

One of the calls was made by her 16-year-old sister, before Bryant’s fatal shooting by a Columbus police officer. The call indicated that some of the girls at the home has been in a fight and that her sister requested that she no longer wanted to live there.

“I don’t want to be here no more,” the girl said to the 911 dispatcher.

This call was one of many made at the home of foster mom, Angela Moore. Some of the calls asked for help with foster girls who had left without permission and did not return. Others reported fights.

Bryant’s family has been looking into why the other girls were there the day of the fatal incident and why there was no protection for her.

“The whole world has placed Ma’Khia on trial based on this one incident where they see her swinging a knife,” familt attorney Michelle Martin said. “But why aren’t we looking further and figuring out who were those girls? How did they get there? How did this develop so quickly?”

“What trauma was not being addressed within the home? I mean so many questions that have to be answered.”

The officer who shot Bryant is currently on paid leave.
