Woman Accidentally Superglues Eye Shut After Mistaking Bottle Of Nail Glue For Eye Drops

Jennifer Eversole, a mother from California, accidentally glued her eye shut after mistaking a bottle of nail glue for eye drops. The incident occurred when Eversole reached for what she thought were her eye drops, but instead picked up a container of super glue. In an attempt to correct the mistake, she tried to wash the glue out of her eye but ended up gluing her eyelids together. She was rushed to the hospital where medical professionals were able to remove the glue and save her vision.

This isn’t the first time that people have mistakenly used super glue or other adhesives as eye drops. In fact, there is a meme on Memedroid featuring a person holding a bottle of super glue with the caption “super glue/eye drops.” While it may seem humorous, the consequences of using super glue in your eyes can be severe. “Well, I’ve gone and done it. I have won the most idiot person award,” Eversole, a mom of six, said in her video. “My eye drops sit directly next to superglue and they’re the same size bottle and I wasn’t paying attention and now my eye’s glued shut.”

“And then I shut my eye really fast,” she recalled. “And I don’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing because it didn’t get on my eyeball that much. And maybe it wouldn’t have glued my eyes shut if I hadn’t shut them, but I don’t know what would have happened. It could have been worse.”

Does this story sound a little familiar? Well, you’re right.

In early 2021, a woman from Louisiana named Tessica Brown made headlines after she accidentally used Gorilla Glue spray adhesive on her hair instead of hairspray. Her hair became stuck in the same position for a month, despite her attempts to wash it 15 times and use shampoo. Gorilla Glue even recommended soaking the affected area in warm, soapy water or applying rubbing alcohol to it, but nothing worked.

Eventually, Brown sought medical treatment at a hospital to remove the glue. Celebrities such as Chance The Rapper showed support for her during this trying time. Fortunately, Brown’s ordeal had a happy ending. A surgeon named Dr. Michael Obeng was able to successfully remove the Gorilla Glue from her hair using a medical-grade adhesive remover, acetone, and natural solutions.

The news of her successful surgery was met with joy and relief from people who had been following her story online. Even Gorilla Glue’s manufacturers issued a statement of support for Brown after facing mounting pressure. But the question remains: why did Tessica Brown put glue in her hair in the first place? In an interview with the New York Post, Brown revealed that she had run out of her usual hairspray and decided to use Gorilla Glue as a substitute.

She didn’t realize the mistake until it was too late, and she was already stuck with the glue in her hair. The incident serves as a cautionary tale for others who might be tempted to use household products in place of beauty products.
