A mother and her 3-year-old were shot in broad daylight in Manhattan’s Times Square and authorities have reported that the gunman is still on the loose.

The shooting took place around 5 p.m. between West 44 Street and Seventh Avenue, and both were rushed to Bellevue Hospital for treatment in stable condition. NYPD investigators said they believe a third person has been shot during the hectic scene but so far it is unclear. The gunman is still on the loose and the area is heavily patrolled until officers can found him and make an arrest.
A video recorded by a witness said the gunman fired two shots and the toddler was bleeding heavily. “Two shots. They were bleeding the toddler was bleeding and the mom was crying,” he told NBC News.
