Morries Hall, Man In Car With George Floyd & Key Witness In Derek Chauvin Trial, Doesn’t Want To Testify
It’s reported that a key witness in the Derek Chauvin trial, Morries Lester Hall, the man in the car with George Floyd on the day he died, doesn’t want to testify.
Hall is said to be invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination as his lawyer, Adrienne Cousins, affirms that anything he says about his alleged drug activity with George Floyd could leave him vulnerable to being charged with third-degree murder in the death of the 46-year-old Black man.

Currently, Hall in is jail and has been identified during trials as an alleged drug dealer. In a recent court hearing on Zoom Tuesday morning (Apr. 6), Hall’s attorney argued that he has zero immunity from prosecution when it comes to his testimony about his and Floyd’s behavior while seated in a Mercedes-Benz SUV shortly before Minneapolis PD officers arrived on May 25 and arrested Floyd.
In his opening statement last week, Chauvin’s attorney Eric Nelson told the jury they’d hear from Hall, stating his testimony would “include evidence that while they were in the car, Mr. Floyd consumed what were thought to be two Percoset [painkiller] pills.”
Hall’s attorney fired back, “Your honor, I cannot envision any topic that Mr. Hall would be called to testify on that would be both relevant to the case that would not incriminate him. Mr. Hall’s testimony in these matters would specifically put him in the position of being in very close proximity to Mr. Floyd, in a vehicle where drugs were found during a search by police following Floyd’s death.”
