Mitch McConnell Says Capitol Rioters ‘Were Provoked’ By Donald Trump
The Republican Majority leader isn’t here for Donnie and is placing blame on the President for inciting the Capitol riots.
McConnell said Trump is to blame because he “fed lies” and that the mob“provoked by the president.”
“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people,” McConnell said. “And they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government which they did not like.”
“The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop Congress from doing our duty.”
The message came On Trump’s last day in office ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration tomorrow.
“Tomorrow, president-elect Biden and vice-president-elect Harris will be sworn in,” McConnell added. “We will have a safe and successful inaugural, right here, on the west front of the Capitol.”
