Charles Jarreau, an engineering student, received the message from Leslie Fisher. Fisher accidentally texted him about the status of her turkey order and Jarreau said in response, “Hi Leslie, unfortunately, I believe you have the wrong number; I’m a broke college kid in Knoxville, not a turkey dealer.” Fisher apologized for the mistake and offered to pay for his lunch since she has a son that is also attending college.

Soon after, Fisher screenshots the message and posted it on her Facebook page so her friends could send money to Jarreau’s cash app. The young man said the total came up to almost $2,000 and he plans to donate some of it to charity.

“Right now, people have sent me close to $2,000; I felt a little bit guilty about getting all this money. Some of her friends mentioned paying it forward, so I plan on donating to some local charities like Second Harvest and giving some of that money to Leslie and her son.”
