Missouri Becomes First State To Resume Concerts & Live Events As Of Monday
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson is gearing up to open the state and resume concerts and live events as of Monday (May 4), making it the first in the US to do so amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In Gov. Parson’s reopening plan, which also permits retail stores to welcome customers in limited quantities and restaurants to allow dine-ins, for live events he dictates that “seating shall be spaced out according to social distancing requirements,” six feet apart. He adds, “There are currently no limitations on social gatherings as long as necessary precautions are taken and six feet of distance can be maintained between individuals and/or families.”

Despite his plans to reopen, mayors in the state’s major cities, St. Louis, Springfield, and Kansas City have zero intentions on following suit. St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson stated, “Though portions of the state will begin to slowly reopen Monday, [St. Louis] will not. While we are developing a phased approach for our own reopening, the City’s #StayHome orders remain in place. We will continue to be guided by data, not dates.”
