MInneapolis PD Dispatcher Warned Supervisor About George Floyd’s Arrest

A dispatcher for the Minneapolis Police Department who witnessed George Floyd’s arrest called and warned her supervisor about it.

According to the New York Post, the unidentified woman contacted her supervisor after she witnessed George Floyd’s arrest from a live camera outside of Cup Foods and was shocked by the officers’ behavior. She said to her supervisor: “I don’t know, you can call me a snitch if you want to, but we have the cameras up for (squad) 320’s call, and… I don’t know if they had to use force or not, but they got something out of the back of the squad, and all of them sat on this man. So, I don’t know if they needed you or not, but they haven’t said anything to me,” 

The supervisor said in response that the officers only described the arrest as a “takedown”. They said “They haven’t said anything yet… just a takedown, which doesn’t count, but I’ll find out.”

Transcripts of their communication were released by the city along with 911 calls from residents who witnessed George Floyd’s death on May 25th.

There was no indication if the supervisor who arrived at the scene after receiving the call. The only known supervisor at the time of George Floyd’s death was Sgt. David Pleoger and officers are supposed to inform their supervisor if the excessive force used while on duty.
