Ming Li Responds to Audio of Her Sister Nicki Minaj Criticizing Her Interviews: “I Tried as a Sister to Please Her… I Still Love Her”
Ming Li, Nicki Minaj’s younger sister, is on a journey to establish her own identity while navigating the challenges of being associated with a rap icon. As she works to promote her music, her recent interviews have sparked tension within her family, particularly with her big sis.
In a recent appearance on the podcast “We in Miami,” the 18-year-old shared her struggles with being recognized primarily as Nicki Minaj’s sister. During the convo, she revealed that she and Nicki were never particularly close.
“I’ve never called her Nicki… I’ve always called her Onika. It always felt weird to call her by her stage name. We were never close, but we had a good bond,” she explained. Ming noted that Nicki was often busy with her career, leaving little time for family. “She was always busy, and I was doing my own thing too. But at the end of the day, I know I still love her, and she loves me. I’m proud of her.”

After hearing an audio clip of Nicki expressing her feelings about Ming’s interviews, Li echoed her past sentiments in the comments section of the podcast’s post. “I still love her. I tried as a sister to please her, but I realize I gotta please God first because only He can judge the gift He gave me,” she wrote. Nicki has not yet responded to Li’s latest comment.
Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is preparing for the North American leg of her Pink Friday 2 Tour, which will begin on September 4 in Philadelphia and conclude on October 11 in her hometown of Queens, New York.
