The study conducted by Datassential says Millenials and Gen Z reportedly prefer Mexican and Chinese food because it suits their “get-up-and-go” culture. Restaurant menus are also taking notes as the presence of tacos on menus has increased by 24 percent, as reported by Inquirer. Additionally, ramen’s placement on menus has increased from 0.9 percent to 2.9 percent within the decade.
However, pizza has dropped from 37 percent of menus, and other popular Italian dishes such as ravioli, lasagna, and Italian sausage. One man named Thomas Keller says he prefers to eat Mexican food twice a week because it is not as carb heavy as Italian food. “I’m obsessed with weight and self-image. And Italian food can be so carb-heavy. I eat Mexican twice a week,” he explained.
