Mike Tyson is gearing up for a fight against YouTuber Jake Paul and although he’s considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, he’s opening up about his fears and how he manages to face them head-on.
In a recent interview with Sean Hannity, Tyson, Tyson, who is set to take on Paul, a rising star in the boxing world with limited professional experience, talked up about his mindset, admitting, “I have a weird personality – I don’t think it’s weird though. Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it. That’s how it is.” He added, “I was afraid of the Roy [Jones Jr. fight [in 2020]. I was 100 pounds overweight, I was however old, 54, 53, and I said ‘Let’s do it.’ Anything I’m afraid of, I confront it. That’s my personality. Right now, I’m scared to death.”
Tyson believes that adversity and nervousness are key drivers of his success. He stated, “I always believed that adversity and nervousness pretty much catapulted me into success. If I didn’t have these feelings, I wouldn’t go into this fight. I have to have these feelings to fight. Without them, I would never go in the ring.”

As the fight with Paul approaches, Tyson expects his initial nerves to subside as he focuses on the task at hand. He said, “As the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become, because it’s reality. And in reality, I’m invincible.”
Acknowledging Paul’s transition from a YouTube personality to a serious boxing contender, Tyson is confident in his ability to handle whatever challenges come his way. He expressed, “This guy is gonna come, he’s gonna try to hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s gonna be greatly mistaken.”
The highly-anticipated showdown between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is set to take place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, on July 20.
