Michigan Mother Charged After Fatally Stabbing 3-Year-Old Daughter, Claims SpongeBob Forced Her

A Michigan mother has been charged with felony murder after fatally stabbing her 3-year-old daughter, a crime she says SpongeBob SquarePants forced her to commit. Just days after celebrating her daughter Sutton Mosser’s 3rd birthday, 22-year-old Justin Johnson allegedly threw her daughter’s lifeless body into a black trash bag after repeatedly stabbing her on September 16.

The suspect’s 17-year-old brother, Knesley Johnson, came over the following day, asked where his niece was, and was told off by Justine, who said, “Mind your f***ing business.” Knesley ending up alerting the Oscoda Township Police Department that day after finding Sutton’s body in the trash.

Child Protective Services investigator Ryan Eberline says Justine told him that she hallucinated that everyone’s favorite cartoon character instructed her on what to do. He says, “She told me that she didn’t remember the specifics of what happened at the time of what happened to Sutton, that she was experiencing hallucinations due to heroin withdrawal and not sleeping for approximately two weeks. She was getting hallucinations from the TV that had instructed her to take her daughter’s life or they would kill her. It was SpongeBob who was saying these things on the TV. If she didn’t do what she did to her daughter they would kill her. She said she was afraid for her life and she had lost her mind.”

Justine is being held in jail without bond, and with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for February 28. She faces life in prison if convicted.
