The Metro Times reports Councilman Eddie Kabacinski attended President Trump’s rally on October 14  when he saw the 24-year-old woman placing the BLM stickers on various Trump campaign signs. Eastpointe Police stated he ran after the woman, grabbed her then handcuffed her. While waiting for police to arrive at the scene, the young woman sprayed him with silly string and escaped.

According to state law, a person is not allowed to make a citizen’s arrest for misdemeanors unless they are a retail employee. However, Kabacinski says he was a former military officer and the federal law permits him to make an arrest

Due to his actions, the councilman could face several criminal charges and police have turned over the case to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. He says he is unable to comment on the case until the investigation is complete.

“There is an ongoing investigation and the prosecutor will handle it from here. I don’t want there to be any tainting or rush to judgement in the court of public opinion. I support law enforcement and want to allow the police and the prosecutor the time they need to do their investigation.”
