Michelle Obama Announces Support For Vote-By-Mail Amidst Coronavirus

Former first lady Michelle Obama has announced that she is supporting Democratic legislation that pushes for absentee voting by mail amidst the Coronavirus. The legislation would require voters to mail in or drop-off their ballots if 25 percent of states declare a state of emergency due to the Coronavirus.

“Americans should never have to choose between making their voices heard and keeping themselves and their families safe,” Obama said in a statement. “Expanding access to vote-by-mail, online voter registration and early voting are critical steps for this moment — and they’re long overdue.”
The Democrats believe everyone should be able to vote without putting themselves at risk by being in long poll lines,
“Voting by mail is an easy, convenient and secure way to cast your ballot,” the Republican National Committee said according to the Washington Post. “Return the attached official Republican Party mail-in ballot application to avoid lines and protect yourself from large crowds on Election Day.”
However, Trump and the Republicans have shut this down, believing that the notion of a nationwide vote-by-mail system and could lead to voter fraud.
“I think mail-in voting is horrible,” he said during an April 7 press conference. “It’s corrupt.”
