Michael Strahan Is Headed To Space Aboard Next Blue Origin Flight!
Michael Strahan is the latest star to go to space!
This Tuesday, the co-host of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and former NFL defensive lineman announced that he will be among the group of passengers slated to embark on Blue Origin’s next flight, which is scheduled for Dec. 9.
“Blue Origin, they approached me and they asked if I wanted to be a crew member,” Strahan explained on GMA. “Without hesitation, I said yes.”
On this journey, Strahan will be joined by Laura Shepard Churchley, the eldest daughter of the first American to fly to space, Alan Shepard, according to “Good Morning America.”
Strahan began preparations for the flight just over two weeks ago, when he was measured for his flight suit and tested his flight seat. So far, he and his fellow crew members have spoken over Zoom. They will meet in Texas soon. There, they will undergo trainings and safety briefings.
The upcoming space launch will be Blue Origin’s third crewed spaceflight this year. According to the Blue Origin website, “New Shepard” will launch from West Texas. During his 11-minute flight, the co-host will travel three times the speed of sound and will float weightless for several minutes.
