The Jackson family is considering taking legal action against Bashir after it was revealed by Prince Harry and William that he used manipulative tactics during his interview with Princess Diana and her paranoia in its aftermath led to her death. During the 2003 interview with Michael Jackson, Bashir asked about his relationship with pre-adolescent boys and the allegations of sexual abuse. The questions led to Jackson revealing that he slept in the same bed with then 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo and said, “Why can’t you share your bed? That’s the most loving thing to do, to share your bed with someone.”

As reported by TMZ, Jackson was found not guilty of sexually abusing Arvizo but the interview left a stain on his legacy. Jackson’s nephew, Taj, and his brother Tito believe that Bashir manipulated footage and lacked journalistic integrity in the interview. “Bashir’s manipulated footage and unethical journalism is one of the main reasons my uncle Michael is not here today. That 2005 trial broke him. Shame on those who provided cover for Bashir. Shame on those who rewarded him. My family deserves an investigation & apology too,” said Taj.
