Michael Jackson‘s nephew TJ Jackson wants to clear his uncle’s name from all the accusations that have been made about the King of Pop. The “Beat It” hitmaker had been plagued by sex abuse claims since the early ’90s and well after his death in 2009, with several TV projects having framed Michael to have been anything but the person he was in the limelight.

In 2019, for example, HBO released its documentary, “Leaving Neverland,” which featured interviews from Wade Robson and James Safechuck, claiming their idol abused them in their adolescent years at his Neverland ranch. The Michael Jackson estate went on to call the doc “a tabloid character assassination” based on the inaccurate timeline of events. Now, in a recent interview with the Mirror, TJ says that a new film about Michael will clear his name once and for all, and it’s definitely “going to happen.”

“I think it’s awful, to be honest,” the 43-year-old told the publication regarding the abuse claims about Michael. “I think it’s very sad. I think it’s in a way disgusting because what sells in this world is negativity. People like to gossip, people like scandals. My uncle is not here to defend himself, so he’s an easy target. He was always an easy target, because he was always quiet.”

TJ believes that since Michael’s passing, he has become an easier target for people to go after because he can no longer defend himself. The people who loved and personally knew Michael knew his true character, he added, saying that what the past accusers have said about his uncle doesn’t match up with all the good things the closest around him have said, including his family.

“The importance my family had in Black culture first, Black people, and allowing people of all nationalities to idolize a Black family or Black figures is something I think gets lost. To become, you know, sex symbols for our huge band and number one in the early 70s as Black kids is an incredible accomplishment. That story needs to be amplified in my opinion. So I think there will be a Jackson story.”

In her Lifetime documentary, Janet, which aired earlier this year, Janet Jackson said he felt “guilty” talking about her late brother regarding matters concerning child abuse allegations. The “Together Again” chart-topper expressed, “There’s a great deal of scrutiny that comes with having that last name.” When asked about how she felt over the negative things that were said about Michael’s private life, she added, “Yeah. Guilty by association. I guess that’s what they call it, right?”
