As we previously reported, Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was gunned down outside the New York Hilton Midtown, where he was set to address investors. The shocking details about the murder that occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, has many looking for answers and has also prompted a manhunt for the gunman.

According to police, Thompson was the target of a “premeditated, preplanned targeted attack.” New reports reveal that words etched onto the bullet casings left at the scene were also discovered. The phrases “deny,” “depose,” and “defend” were found engraved on the live rounds, hinting at a deeper, perhaps more personal vendetta. The masked assassin, who remains at large, was even spotted on his phone moments after the shooting.

Thompson’s wife, Paulette, disclosed to NBC News that her husband had recently received threats, a grim indication that he may have been aware of the danger lurking around him. Despite the ominous warnings, Thompson chose to travel without a personal security detail.

As the investigation unfolds, Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny has been candid about the challenges faced by law enforcement. “The motive for this murder is currently unknown, but based on the evidence we have so far, it does appear the victim was specifically targeted,” he stated.

A manhunt is currently underway, with police urging anyone with information to step forward. A $10,000 reward hangs in the balance for those brave enough to assist in bringing the killer to justice.
