[UPDATE] Melinda Gates Filed For Divorce From Bill & Is NOT Requesting Spousal Support Despite No Prenup In Place
As we shared earlier, Bill & Melinda Gates are splitting after 27 years of marriage. Now, it’s learned that Melinda is the one who filed for divorce and she is NOT requesting any spousal support, despite the couple not having a prenup in place.
Per divorce documents obtained by TMZ, Melinda filed citing that her marriage to Bill is irretrievably broken. A judge then ruled that the marriage ended “as of the date in the separation contract;” which isn’t included in the divorce filing, but signifies that they separated prior to Melinda’s recent filing.

Additionally, in the docs it’s clear that there is NO PRENUP between the couple; which, per the filing, is because they claim the only written agreement that matters to them and their divorce is their separation agreement, mentioned above. Furthermore, Melinda will NOT be requesting for any spousal support. And although this case will most likely settle without a trial, the couple has asked for a trial date in April 2022. As we shared previously, the couple released a joint statement announcing their decision and noting that they’ll “continue [their] work together at the foundation.”
