Amid the news of her divorce from Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates reportedly consulted with divorce lawyers since 2019.

Melinda Gates started speaking with divorce lawyers in October 2019 after questions and concerns arose surrounding Bill Gates’ friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The couple met Epstein in 2013 and Melinda reportedly found him and warned Bill that they shouldn’t be associated with him. However, Bill continued his friendship with Epstein and traveled with him to Palm Beach, Florida with his associates from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
In the divorce filing, Melinda is not seeking spousal or child support from Bill. However, the former couple said in their Twitter statement that they will continue to work together on their joint projects.

‘We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue to work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.’
In the divorce filing, they also agreed on a separation contract where they have agreed on splitting up their assets and can legally sue each other if either party breaches their contract.
