Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha claims she lied about her upbringing and their family during her interview with Oprah and has filed a lawsuit for defamation.

The lawsuit claims Meghan created a narrative to appear that she grew up poor and made comments about the Markle family to appear more sympathetic. Samantha stated Meghan claimed she’s an only child although they share the same father. In the interview, Meghan said she last seen Samantha “at least 18 years ago and ten years before that.”
Additionally, Meghan is accused of lying about her upbringing since their father, Thomas Markle, paid for her private school education along with dance and acting classes. Thomas also reportedly paid for Meghan’s tuition during her time at Northwestern University.

Samantha’s lawsuit adds that the allegedly slander against her family has hurt the sales of her autobiography and prevented her from getting jobs in addition to causing emotional distress.
Meghan’s attorney has denied the claims and called the lawsuit “baseless” in a statement to TMZ.
“This baseless and absured lawsuit is just a continuation fo a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves.”
