The second half of “Harry & Meghan” dropped on Netflix this Thursday, and the former royals shared more details about their big exit and the aftermath of it all.
One clip that has caught viewers’ attention shows Meghan Markle tearful recalling feeling suicidal after she and Harry decided to step down from their royal duties in 2020. “I tried so hard,” the “Suits” alum says. “That’s the piece that’s so triggering,” she continues. “Because … it still wasn’t good enough, and you still don’t fit in.” Speaking about the horrible hate and death threats she received over their big move, Markle revealed some of the horrific messages she received … “Meghan just needs to die. Someone needs to kill her. Maybe it should be me.” In the clip, Meghan responds, “And I was just like, ‘OK.’ That’s what’s actually out in the world because of people creating hate.” She tearfully went on to say, “I’m a mom. That’s my real life. And that’s the piece when you see it and you go, ‘You are making people want to kill me. You are making me scared.'”
In the Netflix series, Markle also reveals that Beyonce personally reached out to her to see if she was ok. Markle says in the clip: “Beyonce just texted. I still can’t believe she knows who I am.” Markle goes on to say that Beyonce “said that she wants me to feel safe and protected, she admires and respects my bravery and she thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed.” Harry replied: “That’s well said.”
Further into the series, Prince Harry talks more about how he tried his best to handle his wife’s darkest moment. “I was devastated,” added Prince Harry. “I knew that she was struggling. We were both struggling, but I never thought that it would get to that stage.”
“And the fact that it got to that stage, I felt angry and ashamed,” he continued. “I didn’t deal with it particularly well. I dealt with it as ‘institutional Harry’ as opposed to ‘husband Harry.’ And what took over my feelings was my royal role.” He added, “I’d been trained to worry more about what are people gonna think if we don’t go to this event, we’re gonna be late,” he said. “Looking back on it now, I hate myself for it. What she (Meghan) needed from me was so much more than I was able to give.”
As we previously reported, Markle first revealed her suicidal thoughts during the couple’s sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, where she also admitted to thoughts of self-harm.
“I was ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry. But I knew that if I didn’t say it — then I would do it,” she said about her dark thoughts. “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

In the March 2021 television interview with Winfrey, Harry and Meghan said Megxit was caused by them not getting the help they needed from the royal establishment on issues such as refuting false tabloid stories about Meghan and getting her mental health help.
The Netflix series features Markle’s mother and famed producer Tyler Perry who also shares why he stepped in to help the couple during their difficult time.
