In her first television interview reflecting on the 2020 shooting allegedly involving rapper Tory Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion speaks with “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King and explains what happened that night. Lanez pleaded not guilty to assault and weapons charges associated to the alleged shooting.
In a part of the interview, Megan explains why the argument started. “It was an argument because I was ready to go and everyone else wasn’t ready to go. But that’s like normal friend stuff. We fuss about silly stuff all the time. But I never put my hands on anybody. I never raised my voice too loud. This was one of those times it shouldn’t have got this crazy.”

Megan continued to explain what happened once she got outside of the car. “So I get out of the car and everything happens so fast. All I hear is this man screaming, he said ‘Dance Bi***’ and he started shooting. And I’m just like omg he shot a couple of times. And I was so scared.” She then goes on to say that Tory was standing up and shooting over the window. “I didn’t want to move, I didn’t want to move too quick because if I take the wrong step I don’t know if he would shoot something that’s super important or he could shoot me and kill me. I was really scared because I have never been shot at before.”
Earlier this month, Lanez was arrested after their most recent court hearing after a judge ruled that the rapper violated court orders in the criminal case regarding his alleged 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
As we previously reported, judge David Herriford ruled that certain social media posts from Lanez violated a protective order requiring him to avoid any contact with Stallion. During his protective order the rapper was having a back and forth with female rapper on Twitter which resulted in him being taken into custody, but not shortly after Lanez was released on bond.

The “Say It” rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, has pleaded not guilty to both assault with a firearm and a gun possession charge related to the July 2020 shooting of Stallion that occurred during an argument following a Hollywood Hills party.
“The self-serving noise in this case will not change the facts or prevent this case from proceeding,” an attorney for Stallion said in a prepared statement provided to Billboard following Tuesday’s hearing.
More of Gayle King’s interview with Megan Thee Stallion is set to air on “CBS Mornings” on Monday, April 25.
