Cardi B’s song “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion is one of the biggest songs of 2020. It charted #1 on major music platforms such as Billboard, Itunes, Spotify Charts, Youtube Charts, and the track broke records for the biggest female collaboration with 93 million streams when it debuted in the U.S… Despite the success of the track, it sparked a huge conversation about double standards in the entertainment world.

In a new interview with GQ, the Houston rapper explains why people especially men feel so threatened by women like herself: “Some people just don’t know what to do when a woman is in control and taking ownership of her own body,” Meg told the magazine. “I feel like for a long time men felt like they owned sex and now women are saying, ‘Hey, this is for me. I want pleasure. This is how I want it or don’t want it,’ it freaks men the hell out.”
She added,
“It just comes from a place of fear and insecurity, like why would anyone be mad about my WAP? It belongs to me.”
Not too long ago, Cardi B also spoke about the controversy surrounding her hit song. She said earlier this year: “The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or really religious people, but my thing is I grew up listening to this type of music.”
