Megan Thee Stallion has once again proven her dominance in the rap industry by becoming the first female rapper to have multiple solo songs reach number one on the global Apple Music singles chart. Her latest hits, “HISS” and “Body,” have solidified her position as a force to be reckoned with.

With the release of “Hiss,” Megan not only showcases her technical prowess but also addresses the constant scrutiny and criticism she has faced in recent months.

With “Hiss,” Megan Thee Stallion wastes no time in making her message clear. The title itself, referencing a snake’s warning shot, sets the tone for the track. In just over three minutes, Megan delivers incisive and tightly coiled couplets aimed at her unnamed enemies. While she doesn’t explicitly mention specific incidents, it is evident that the vitriol stems from the aftermath of Tory Lanez’s felony assault conviction for shooting Megan in 2020… furthermore her beef with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.

Addressing Her Haters:

Since the incident, Megan has faced accusations and doubts about her honesty. These doubts were further fueled by Drake’s lyrics in his 2022 joint album with 21 Savage, as well as Nicki Minaj’s seemingly veiled jab at Meg on her track “FTCU.” The toll of being doubted and questioned took a toll on Megan’s mental well-being, which she addressed in previous projects.

In her recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Megan openly discussed her targets in “Hiss.” She expressed her frustration with those who use her name for attention, whether they are men or women. Megan called for a change in tactics, urging her critics to find something else to focus on. Her message is clear: she is tired of being a target and wants to move forward from the negativity.

She explained that her new song is “for these b*tches, or these h*es, b*tches and h*es alike, men or women; every time one of these motherfu**kers use Megan Thee Stallion name, they get 24 hours of attention,” she explained. “Basically, I understand what y’all doing, and I want y’all to get up off me. Do something else. Do something different. Use another tactic. This one getting old.”

Nicki Minaj was the first rapper to assume the track was about her and she responded with a diss record of her own.

Despite that online tension, Chart Data reports that for the first time in history, two female rappers simultaneously occupy the top 2 on US Apple Music with solo songs: HISS by Megan Thee Stallion and Big Foot, by Nicki Minaj.
