After sharing her thoughts about the #MeToo movement during a recent chat with Glamour UK, Megan Fox may have given one of her most candid interviews to date. The mother-of-three believes she was ahead of the global impact that the #MeToo campaign had on women worldwide, initially sparked by actress Rose McGowan’s allegations that former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein sexually abused her.

Since then, many actresses have come forward to tell their unpleasant stories about men in Hollywood who were either mistreating or sexually exploiting them in a work environment. In her chat with the aforementioned publication, it appears as if Megan experienced similar incidents that prompted her to speak out long before the #MeToo movement was in full effect. “I was always speaking out against some of the abusive, misogynistic, patriarchal things that were going on in Hollywood back in 2008 and 2009,” the 35-year-old told the magazine.

“Way before people were ready to embrace that or tolerate it. And I actually got ridiculed for doing it. I think people just have had time to review that, in retrospect.” Looking back on her comments about misogyny and abuse in Hollywood, Megan insisted that she had no regrets regarding her past statements. But she admits that when she did speak out, people didn’t seem to back her because most of her roles often saw her playing the sexy girl next door character.

“The regret I have is that my personality is so lost on people, my sense of humor is lost. My intelligence is not acknowledged,” she continued. “And so that is a regret. Sometimes I feel like I just waste my energy, giving myself to people who don’t understand and won’t appreciate [me].

“But I’ve never had anything where I look back now and think, ‘I really shouldn’t have said that.’ Even the terrible things caused me to do so much work on myself, that I grew exponentially, because of it.”

Despite feeling like she became an outcast at one point in her career, after making some not-so-nice comments about the people she had worked with in the past, Megan has certainly bounced back with a handful of her movies expected to hit cinemas in the next year.

The Jennifer’s Body star recently wrapped filming on the movie Good Mourning, which is followed by the family film Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin. She’s also starring in the upcoming The Expendables 4, and helms the lead role as Alana Hart in the crime drama Johnny & Clyde, which has yet to receive an official release date.

In early 2020, Megan began dating rapper-turned-rockstar Machine Gun Kelly, who has since proposed to his leading lady, though the pair have yet to set a wedding date. The Tennessee native was previously married to Brian Austin Green; they share three children together: Bodhi, Noah, and Journey.
