In a direct message to the rapper, Vanessa called his new line about Kobe and the helicopter crash that killed him, their daughter, and seven others “extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period.” She also told him that she’s “not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this,” she wrote, in part. “If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”
Following a big wave of backlash, Meek Mill took to social media on Tuesday to finally apologize for this line: “Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.” He said on Twitter, “I apologized to her in private earlier today, not to the public…Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”
As we previously reported, Kobe, along with his and Vanessa’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others, died in a tragic helicopter crash on Jan. 26, 2020 — a tragic accident that is still hard for many people to deal with.
