Congresswoman, Maxine Waters recently spoke out against claims that President Joe Biden is “too old” to serve another term.

While sitting down with Don Lemon at the Global Black Economic Forum during Essence Festival, Waters made it clear that age ain’t nothing but a number. “We’re now at a point and time where people are talking about Biden is too old. Hell I’m older than Biden and I get up every morning and I exercise and I work late hours and I take care of black people,” Waters said.

“Trump has told you who he is. He’s defined himself. He is a no good, deplorable, lying and despicable human being.” She paused as the crowd cheered. “And he’s talking if he doesn’t win there’s going to be a bloodbath. There’s going to be violence. There’s going to be a civil war. Who in the hell do you think he’s coming after? Who’s going to be targeted? Who is he talking about? But you know he means business because he is the one who led the invasion of the Capitol on January 6th.”

As we previously reported, President Joe Biden reassured congressional Democrats in a letter that he plans to seek reelection, despite growing worries about his mental acuity and the strength of his campaign. Additionally, he criticized party “elites” in an interview before a crucial week in Congress.

“I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump,” Biden wrote in the letter.

Biden aimed to address escalating doubts about his ability to continue his campaign in the strongly-worded letter.

“The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it’s time for it to end. We have one job. And that is to beat Donald Trump. We have 42 days to the Democratic Convention and 119 days to the general election. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us,” Biden concluded. “It is time to come together, move forward as a unified party, and defeat Donald Trump.”
