Massachusetts State Police Trooper Fired After Using Racial Slurs In Off-Duty Altercation
An unidentified Massachusetts State Police trooper has been fired after allegedly using racial slurs in an off-duty altercation with a driver.
Department officials say the rookie trooper, who graduated in May and still in his one-year probationary period, was fired on Tuesday for “unacceptable conduct” after his confrontation with a motorist last weekend in Revere. At the time of publishing this article, the trooper nor the driver’s name and race have yet to be disclosed by authorities.

Col. Christopher Mason released a statement following, in which he says, “I am disgusted and disappointed by the conduct that occurred, which is the antithesis of the standards of conduct and personal behavior we expect and demand of our members. This subject is not fit to wear the badge or call themselves a member of the department.”
In addition to the trooper’s firing, state police have also turned the matter over to Attorney General Maura Healy for review of any potential civil or criminal action.
