Massachusetts Inmates Promised Shorter Sentences If They Get COVID-19 Vaccine
While more than half of the Massachusetts corrections workers have refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine, state officials are now promising inmates shorter sentences if they get their two doses of the vaccine.
A new law in Massachusetts states prisoners are “eligible to earn deductions from sentences and completion credits, collectively known as good conduct deductions, for participation in and completion of programs and activities.”

Commissioner Carol Mici recently released a statement announcing the new incentive. She wrote, “I have determined that receiving the vaccine is significantly valuable to rehabilitation and will therefore be offering Earned Good Time.” It’s stated that inmates would have “been required to read educational literature and watch videos about the vaccine, receive both doses and then would have been awarded 7.5 days of Earned Good Time.” So far, more than 3,500 inmates in the state have received their first dose of the vaccine. #Socialites, thoughts?
