The deadly shooting took place during a rap concert at the El Mula banquet hall near a shopping center and Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez said in a statement on Twitter that the situation was a targeted act of violence. “I am at the scene of another targeted and cowardly act of gun violence, where over 20 victims were shot and 2 have sadly died. These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims,” he said in a tweet.
Witnesses said they saw three unidentified men exiting out of a Nissan Pathfinder while holding assault rifles and handguns. Moments later, they fired multiple shots into the crowd outside of the venue.
