Reality star and singer Masika Kalysha is speaking from the depths of her pain after losing her husband, Jamar Champ, in a devastating car crash earlier this week.
In a new Instagram post, Masika poured her heart out, revealing just how heavy her grief has become as she prepares to lay her husband to rest.
“I’ve never felt pain like this I wouldn’t wish this on anybody,” she began. “I feel like I lost my right leg but I still have to walk as if nothing has changed. Our daughters are devastated and confused. Our lives will never be the same. As I prepare to bury my husband, if there’s only 2 things I can leave you with from this tragedy that I KNOW my husband would want…”
She went on to say,
“When you have to bury your spouse, NONE of the arguments matter. None. Not one. The things you were so sure were worth fighting over suddenly mean nothing when the person you love is gone and you actually have to experience life without them. All that’s left is love — and the time you wish you could get back.”
She added,
“The ONLY guarantee in life is death. If you died today, do you 100% know you would you go to heaven? If the answer is no or you’re not sure I need you to stop everything right this second and ask God to forgive you of your sins. Say this out loud… I’ve done it my way long enough. Jesus, I know You died for me and rose again. I am asking You to come into my heart, forgive me, save me, and make me new. In Jesus name Amen.”
Masika Kalysha concluded,
“The ONLY thing that gives me any bit of solace is that I KNOW my husband is with the Lord. Jamar had such a burning passion for Christ, I know I will see him again with my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.”
Masika has asked her followers to continue to “please pray for me and my girls.”
What Happened To Jamar Champ
As we previously reported, tragedy struck when Jamar Champ was killed in a wrong-way car crash in Houston. Authorities say a BMW collided head-on with Champ’s Tesla Cybertruck, causing a fiery explosion that claimed his life.
Masika initially confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement shared with The Shade Room, saying:
“It is with profound sadness that I confirm the news of the tragic and unexpected passing of my spouse and father/stepfather of my beautiful daughters, Jamar Champ. During this incredibly challenging time, I kindly ask for respect and understanding as our family comes together to support one another and honor his memory. Your thoughts, prayers, and love mean the world to us as we navigate this devastating loss.”
According to KHOU 11, the fatal crash occurred just after midnight on October 27 on Interstate 10 near Washington Avenue. Investigators reported that the BMW was driving the wrong way when it struck Champ’s Tesla head-on. The BMW immediately burst into flames, and the impact forced the Tesla into a nearby semi-truck. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The freeway was shut down for hours during the early morning commute.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash, including whether impairment or other factors played a role.
Inside Masika and Jamar’s Relationship
Jamar Champ, 38, was a former college football player turned entrepreneur, known for his drive and ambition. He and Masika tied the knot in 2021, and together they share a 3-year-old daughter named Amari.

In a December 2023 Instagram Live, Masika revealed that she and her husband had been “separated” for most of that year.
