Mase’s admission came during a live edition of his podcast with fellow rapper Cam’ron, called ‘It Is What It Is.‘ The two rappers, along with fellow co-host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson,” hosted the live pod at ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas.
During the live show, Wilson asked her co-hosts what was the craziest thing they had ever asked of a potential romantic partner. Mase responded with his own controversial request. He said, “What’s craziest thing I ever asked for? When I first thought about getting married, I asked her to buy the ring if she was serious. I thought that would let me know she was serious.”

Completely stunned and flabbergasted by what her co-host had just said, Wilson interjected, “You asked her to buy the ring?” Mase smiled and shrugged, then said, “We were different.” He then chuckled as the crowd roared in laughter with him.
He then spotted others in the audience applauding him, Mase pointed at someone with his right hand. Then he immediately threw up his arm and flexed it while smiling and nodding his head in agreement. Meanwhile, Wilson, still appalled fired off, “First of all, if you asked her to buy the… No, no, no.”
Mase’s Previous Marriage To Pastor Twyla Betha And Their Nasty Divorce
Previously, Mase, born Mason Durell Betha, was married to Pastor Twyla Betha from 2001 to 2014. According to TMZ, the “Tell Me What You Want” rapper-turned-pastor secretly filed for divorce from his pastor wife in January 2014 and it was finalized by June 2014.
The rapper filed his divorce petition in Atlanta, George on January 2, citing irreconcilable differences. He claimed that they separated in August 2013 after 12 years of marriage. In the documents, Mase asked for full custody of their two children. He even requested that his ex pay him child support.
In June 2020, TMZ updated that a day after Mase filed for divorce in Atlanta, his wife filed for legal separation in San Diego, California. Reacting to her petition, he decided to one-up her and ask for a full-on divorce.
Furthermore, in the San Diego docs, Mase claimed he and Twyla were separated since May 2012. Meaning, for two years, the couple appeared to be faking the funk for the public. The church couple were reportedly delivering sermons, selling books about marriage, and giving out advice while never being together themselves.
In the 2020 report about Mase and Twyla, TMZ reported they were both asking for physical custody of their kids. Additionally, Twyla requested spousal and child support, despite Mase trying to put his foot down.
