Actor and comedian Mark Curry was the latest celebrity to get into a heated argument with a hotel employee this weekend (earlier we shared the news about reality star Tommie Lee, see below). Curry called out a “racist and aggressive” Wyndham hotel employee in Colorado Springs after being singled out.
Mark Curry Calls Out ‘Racist & Aggressive’ Wyndham Hotel Employee In Colorado Springs; Company’s Twitter Releases Statement
Curry explains that he was sitting in the lobby of the hotel, minding his business and drinking his coffee, when he was approached by a white employee and another employee.
Curry says the white employee asked him if he was a guest and told him to leave, despite him stating that he was. Curry then says, the man became aggressive with him during the heated exchange.
In one portion of Curry’s livestream, the “racist” Colorado Springs employee is seen following him as he got up from his chair. The employee continued to stand over/near Curry as he walked away.
Curry eventually spoke with a female employee at the front desk, who did not help much, instead asking the same questions as the other white employee. Curry then retreats to his hotel room, where he tells his livestream viewers to call the hotel and demand answers after the employees harassed him. Curry said he would be leaving the hotel immediately.
Captioning his post on Instagram, Curry said, “Black man and a Hotel Lobby it’s impossible that he has a room here. No, I have a suite !He walks up to me with no badge on. I don’t know who this man is. And asked to see my hotel key Wyndham racism.719-323-2000 call them please Jhon Crab head of security and head of maintenance at the same time.”
After going viral and being called out by the rest of social media, official Twitter account of the Wyndham Hotels spoke out and said: “We appreciate your concerns. The hotel’s owner and management team are working to make this right. Room is being refunded and Mr. Curry has an open invitation to return any time in the future at no cost. Hotel is also revisiting staff training to ensure all feel welcome.”
