Mariah Carey is about to remind everyone why she’s the undisputed Queen of Christmas by kicking off Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25.
The pop icon will deliver a pre-recorded performance of her legendary holiday anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You” right before the day’s football matchups, marking Netflix’s big step into the sports arena.
On Christmas Day, fans can catch the reigning Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, going head-to-head with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET, followed by a showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET. And Mariah won’t be the only powerhouse lighting up Netflix on the 25th; Beyoncé is set to deliver a live halftime show during the Ravens-Texans game. Plus, with Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, playing tight end for the Chiefs, we might just see her in the stands!
Fresh off her biggest Christmas tour yet, Mariah is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her iconic holiday album “Merry Christmas,” which features that timeless single, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” That track has officially been certified 16-times platinum by the RIAA, making it the highest-certified single ever from a female artist.
In addition to streaming on Netflix, the Christmas Day games will be broadcast on local TV in the competing teams’ cities (think CBS affiliates in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston) and will also be available on NFL+ for mobile viewers in the U.S.
The NFL Christmas Gameday on Netflix is part of a three-year deal between the streaming giant and the league, which will also see Netflix airing at least one holiday game in 2025 and 2026. When the deal was announced, the Wall Street Journal reported that it set Netflix back around $150 million.
