Man Wrongfully Convicted Of Murder Freed By Evidence That Was On File For Over 30 Years
A Philadelphia man who spent more than three decades in prison is finally free after being wrongfully convicted.
According to CNN 60 year old Curtis Crosland said, “I feel exceedingly joyful, happy, that finally, you know … after 30 or more years, after constantly knocking on the door for somebody to please hear me, that day finally came.”
Crosland has been extremely happy to finally be home with his five children, fiancee and 32 grandchildren. “It’s a great feeling to still be dad, to be wanted and desired, and open arms to receive you, that’s been the greatest part of being exonerated, that I come home to a loving family that wants and needs me,” he shared.
Back in 1991 is when Crosland was found guilty of second-degree murder, robbery and possessing an instrument of crime in the killing of a Philadelphia store owner in 1984.
According to the lawsuit the documents to prove his innocense were  available at the beginning  of the case, but the Philadelphia District Attorney Office didn’t pay it any mind. Sources say there were files showing two key witnesses as well as police records showing another suspect, which could have acquitted Crosland.
There was no other evidence connecting him to the crime. We have heard this story many of times of people being wrongfully convicted definitely people of color. Hopefully there will be a change sooner than later, but at least Crosland is finally home enjoying life with his family.
