Man Wears KKK Hood Instead Of Mask To Grocery Shop

A man decided to wear a Ku Klux Klan hood instead of a mask while he was grocery shopping at a Vons in Santee, San Diego on Saturday. The incident sparked outrage from the mayor, and the head of the Anti-Defamation League in the city.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, employees at the store asked him numerous times  to take off the hood or leave the store.

When supervisor approached him at the checkout line and asked him again to take off the hood or leave, he finally complied, purchased his items and left. He was described as a white middle-aged man.

“At Vons, fostering an environment of courtesy, dignity and respect is one of our highest priorities, and we work hard to hold everyone in our stores to these standards, including customers,” company rep, Melissa Hill said. “This was a disturbing incident for our associates and customers, and we are reviewing with our team how to best handle such inappropriate situations in the future.”

On Friday, San Diego enforced a rule that everyone must wear a face covering while out in public.
