Maryland police are currently searching for a male suspect who robbed a local bank while wearing blackface.
The Baltimore Sun reports the suspect allegedly robbed a PNC Bank in Cecil County on Tuesday. The Perryville Police Department said in a statement on Facebook that the public is needed to help identify the man. He is described as a “white male, with paint on his face, approximately 5’0-5’5 and late 20’s to early 30’s.’
Investigators did not indicate whether the robbery was racially motivated based on the suspect’s blackface stunt.

The image uploaded to the Facebook page shows the suspect wearing gloves, a red beanie, and a white coat while approaching a female bank employee.

Blackface is known as a form of racism due to white performers painting their faces in brown or black shoe polish and drawing their lips in an exaggerated way. The act gain popularity after slavery but is now seen as a way to offend black people in America.
