According to FOX News, 62-year-old Robert Kovner of Sebring was arrested earlier this week after he made the alleged mass shooting threat on a community Facebook page. The Highland County Sheriff’s Office said Kovner was upset after noticing multiple people were not wearing face masks at a local Publix store.

“Will it take shooting a few of you selfish a**holes  in the parking lot to get the message through? Trust me the virus is not the only thing that may cause your demise!”

Kovner apologized an hour later after making the threat and claimed he lost seven relatives to the coronavirus. He also mentioned his mother-in-law was also dealing with COVID-19 related complications.

Deputies arrested and charged Kovner with using a communication device to commit a crime along with making a written threat of a mass shooting. He was held on a $30,000 bond but was later released.
