Socialites, get into this wild story! A man in India managed to stay at a 5-Star hotel for 600 days .. nearly two years .. without paying a single penny!

According to reports, the man, identified as Ankush Dutta, checked into his hotel, Roseate House in Delhi, on May 30, 2019. The guest initially only booked himself into the hotel for one night.
Once Dutta was checked in, the following day when he was supposed to check out, he ended up extending his stay. By the time he finally checked out, it was January 22, 2021 .. 603 days had passed. At checkout, the man was charged for his nearly 2-year stay, which totaled 5.8 million Indian rupees, or over $70,700 USD.

However, Dutta never ended up paying his invoices from the hotel, and was subsequently reported to the local police. The hotel officials told law enforcement officials about his actions, or inactions, and filed a complaint. The hotel, which is located near Delhi’s main international airport, claimed that its staff at the hotel tried to help Dutta evade his hotel bills by falsifying accounts.
According to the hotel officials, the claimed in their police report that their staff “forged, deleted, added, and falsified a large number of entries” in the guest’s account. They added, “The accounts were falsified to conceal the actual outstanding dues from the senior management to avoid detection of their willful illegal acts.” Hotel officials even identify the staffer who helped, as front desk manager Prem Prakash.

They suspect he used his credentials to log into the hotel’s billing system to change the data in favor of the nearly 2-year guest. Per local law enforcement officials, Prakash is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery and cheating, A senior police official said, “We believe Prakash forged the records. He even removed Dutta’s names from daily reports where his hotel bills were stated.”
The complaint added, “The scrutiny of record of the alleged officials of the hotel revealed that they created several fake and false pending bills to benefit Dutta by adopting various ways like removing room nights from his bills, transferring his debits into the bills of other guests’ bills, using settled bills of other guests by incorporating his name in the bill, etc.”
According to reports, there have not being any arrests made; however; a police investigation has been launched.
