NYPD officers arrested Babacar Mbaye,34, for attacking a four-year-old boy around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Footage of the attack shows Mbaye punching the boy in the head and the child falls to the ground. Moments later, two women jumped Mbaye, one of them was the boy’s mother and restrained him until police arrived at the scene.
While police tried to make the arrest, Mbaye allegedly kicked one of the officers in the leg. He was later transported to Bellevue Hospital where he explained to police that he “drank a whole bottle of hand sanitizer. I shouldn’t have done this.” According to prosecutors, Mbaye has an arrest record that stems back to 2009 for multiple arrests relating to assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, and DWI. He also has three open cases of a misdemeanor for assaulting three other victims last month.
