A Chicago woman recalled the moment her boyfriend proposed to her after she woke up from a month-long coma.

In August 2019, Viktoria Cupay fell into a coma after she was admitted to a hospital as a result of a rare disease. A month after coma, Cupay woke up to her boyfriend, Nicholas William Baldo, proposing marriage, and the moment was recorded by her mother.
‘Nick decided to propose because he knew that it would be a long recovery for me and he wanted me to know that he will be there for me all the way. He thought that I might not make it because they had to revive me twice before the video was taken. He wanted me to experience our engagement and we had that moment together just in case something happened,’ Viktoria explained.

Nicholas further explained that he told Viktoria that he loved her every day at the hospital and often shared the good news in regards to her diagnosis. She was diagnosed with Lupus in 2016 before suffering from Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis in 2019. Both conditions cause the skin to blister and peel.
The couple is looking forward to their wedding as a date is set for next year.
