OMG! #Socialites, do you remember the blue and black dress that went viral in 2015 because to some people it looked white and gold? Well, a man who helped make the dress go viral has recently been accused of trying to murder his wife.

It is reported that a 38-year-old Scottish man named Keir Johnston, of the Isle of Colonsay, allegedly attempted to murder his wife, Grace Johnston — the daughter of Cecilia Bleasdale, the woman the viral 2015 dress was created for.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, the man has been accused of terrorizing his wife for 11 years by allegedly subjecting her to domestic violence acts and coercive control — which ultimately led to him allegedly trying to kill her last March.

Prosecutors in his case claim he tried to unalive his wife by pinning her to the ground and squeezing her neck. Prosecutors alleged that he repeatedly assaulted his wife at their home before pulling out a knife and trying to strangle her.

In other alleged instances of domestic violence, which prosecutors claimed had happened between April 2019 and March 2022, the man is accused of pushing his wife against a wall, shouting at her and again trying to choke and strangle her.

In one instance, he allegedly tried to get into a car that she was in and then hit her through an open window.

Another alleged incident saw him putting his wife in a headlock and drag her out of a bar after she refused to leave with him. The man is also accused of trying to isolate his wife from her family and friends, while also trying to monitor her money to only allow her access to so much at a time. Maintaining his innocence, Johnston has denied all of the charges against him.

On Monday (July 10), the man appeared at the High Court in Glasgow, with a trial set to begin in 2024.

Prior to his latest charges, Johnston and his wife appeared on Ellen Degeneres’ now-defunct self-titled talk show, where she presented the couple with a $10,000 check, plus a trip  to the Caribbean.

The viral dress even captured the attention of some of our favorite celebrities. After Kim Kardashian and then-husband Kanye West saw the dress, Kardashian tweeted about the dress and said, “What color is that dress? I see white and gold. Kanye see black and blue, who is color blind?”

Zendaya also tweeted about it and said, “So it’s deff white and gold, but then I just saw it as black and blue too….TRIIIPPPPPYYYYYY #imdonewiththeinternet.” Meanwhile, Justin Bieber tweeted, “And for everyone asking, I see blue and black.”
