A man was hung upside-down for more than 30 minutes after his girlfriend’s parents found out they were living together without their permission.

According to the Daily Mail, 23-year-old Mario Natriti and his girlfriend Desiana, 20, moved in together at the East Nusa province, Indonesia last week. The young woman’s family became really disappointed in the couple’s decision because they have broken the tradition where a couple is forbidden from living with each other without the parents’ approval. The parents forced Desiana to move back into their home after interrogating Natriti and hung him upside-down against a wooden fence.
Natriti remained in the position for more than 30 minutes until his legs gave up and he fell onto the ground. He told his family that he started experiencing severe headaches and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

His mother, Tujuh Juli Yuli, said her son deserves justice after he was forced to endure the “inhumane” abuse.
‘I hope for justice for my child’s rights. He was treated like an animal. My kid is not a criminal who has to be hanged and tortured and being made into a show for the public.’
Authorities are currently investigating the incident after Natriti’s mother submitted a video as evidence as reported by Southwest Sumba Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Joseph Mandagi.
‘We are working on the testimony of the witnesses and see what violations we can charge against the people involved.’
