Peter Clark,51, was staying in Dubai for one day on Feb. 24 when he suddenly became ill with pancreatitis, resulting in him being rushed to the nearest emergency room. Medics took a sample of his urine and its results showed traces of marijuana in his system. As required by law in Dubai. doctors reported the test results to the police and Clark was arrested then thrown in jail for three days. He explained to the Daily Mail that he was visiting the country for business and planned to set up a recording studio in the country.

’I was absolutely stunned to learn that I was being charged due to residual marijuana in my system. I smoked it legally back in America long before I even got on the plane. I knew about Dubai’s strict drugs laws but never for one moment did I think something I legally did in my own country would lead to my arrest.’

During his time in jail, Clark received antibiotics due to an infection and he learned he was placed on the country’s “no-fly list.” He cannot leave the country until prosecutors decide if he should serve time in jail for having marijuana in his system and the US Embassy is aware of the case.

’This has just turned into a complete nightmare. I never thought by going to the hospital I would end up being thrown in jail. I have not done anything wrong.’
