Jose Luis Callisaya Diaz was sentenced to serve 15 years at the San Pedro Choncochocoro Penitentiary Center and disguised himself as a sheep as he tried to break through an external wall on February 4. When prison officials caught him, Diaz imitated the animal by grazing on grass, but they didn’t fall for his shenanigans.

We inform the Bolivian population that prison security police officers from the San Pedro de Chonchocoro Penitentiary Center prevented the escape of prisoner José Luis Callisaya Diaz (alias El Araña), who took advantage of the inclement weather to try to flee through one of the walls of the external perimeter of the prison,” said Juan Carlos Limpias, Director of the Penitentiary Regime.

Since his escape, Diaz is expected to face legal and disciplinary action. The prison is known as one of the largest prisons in La Paz and considered its own society as reported by Metro UK.

Social media users thought the prison escape attempt was funny because his “costume” didn’t resemble a sheep. One user wrote, “Back to the drawing board!” while another said, “can be said, without missing the truth, that he is a (dangerous) wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

“He disguised himself as a sheep to try to escape from jail. He lacked a good godfather like El Chapo, who was able to leave Puente Grande through the front door, during the government -if he can be called that-, of Vicente Fox.”
